Preparing for a newborn comes with a lot of decisions. What to feed, which diapers to use, choosing a pediatrician and how you want to document those early days. It can feel like your mind is constantly running through a list before your baby has even arrived.
A lifestyle newborn photography session with Erica Ruvio Photography helps take one of those decisions off your plate. The session focuses on documenting the early days in a way that feels honest, with no pressure to pose or perform. We’ll capture the small moments, quiet connections and in-between details in a relaxed and meaningful way. Keep reading to see if a Queens or Nassau in-home lifestyle newborn session is the right fit for your family.

the comfort of being in your own home
A session that takes place in the comfort of your home is inherently relaxed. You don’t need to worry about packing a diaper bag, a screaming newborn in the car or how your toddler will behave. It creates more space to simply be present while documenting such a special time.
We’ll use the spaces with the most natural light, such as your main living areas, bedroom or nursery. And if the idea of having someone come into a home you have been in survival mode in feels a little overwhelming, it does not need to. There is no need for a perfectly styled space, just some natural light and the love already there.

Baby-led moments focused on connection, not perfection
My approach to your session is centered around organic, baby-led moments. The way your baby stretches into a deep yawn, how their tiny hand wraps around yours or the quiet stillness that comes during a feeding, we will simply follow their lead. Documenting these connections in their most honest form because these are the details that matter most.
There are no stiff, rigid poses and no need for wrapping. During your Queens or Nassau newborn session, we’ll select one to two simple outfits for your baby to wear. You are also welcome to choose from my collection of knit baby outfits, making it one less thing to think about when preparing for your session.

A More Flexible Approach, with Timing That fits your family
There is no rush to squeeze your newborn session into those first two weeks after birth, like with posed newborn sessions. An in-home lifestyle newborn session is meant to take place when your family feels more settled, with the ideal window around three to four weeks. This allows time for your family to find its rhythm and for the connection to shine through.
Although it is best to reach out during your third trimester to ensure availability, many parents connect once their baby is already here, realizing how much is changing from day to day. There is still plenty of time to document these early days. Sessions can take place up to eight weeks, capturing your baby as they begin to stretch, look around and settle into this new season.
Whether your session takes place at two weeks or eight, the moments are fully yours and just as meaningful.

document baby with the people that matter most
Having a baby means growing your family, and your family should be part of your session. Parents and siblings are always included, because the connection between you is what makes these images meaningful.
These are the moments you will want to hold onto. The way your baby holds onto your finger, how an older sibling gently comforts them and the joy of your family settling into this new chapter. You are also welcome to include grandparents, adding even more meaning to the story we are documenting.

ready to learn more about Queens & Nassau in-home newborn photography?
Its never too early to get in touch to learn more about in-home newborn sessions. Its best to get in touch early in your third trimester to ensure availability and get a tentative date on the calendar.
If you are considering a maternity session, it is best to get in touch by around 20 weeks. This allows us time to plan your session and explore the options that best fit you and your family. A bump-to-baby maternity and newborn bundle is also available for families looking to document both chapters together.
This season moves quickly, and it deserves to be remembered. If you are expecting or have just welcomed your baby, I would love to connect and help you plan a session that feels like your family.
